Mazda CX-5 - the premiere of the "SUV" in Ukraine took place in March 2012. It is noteworthy that in the same spring, the Mazda CX-5 received the highest ratings according to the results of crash tests on both sides of the ocean at once: five stars from Euro NCAP and the maximum score from the American Institute for Highway Safety ( IIHS).
The merit belongs not only to the means of active safety, but also to "sky-active" technologies. For example, in the body structure, the Japanese tried to connect the maximum number of parts at a right angle, thereby increasing the rigidity of the "shell" of the crossover.
However, the list of Mazda CX-5 electronic assistants is also “in trend”. The basic list includes anti-lock brakes (ABS), emergency braking assistance (EBA), brake force distribution (EBD), traction control (TCS), hill start assist (HLA), road stability (DSC) and tire pressure control.
Moreover, the top-end Premium version with a two-liter engine is equipped with bi-xenon headlights with adaptive cornering lights, as well as a blind spot monitoring system. The same equipment, but with a 2.5-liter engine, additionally receives row control systems and automatic switching from high beam to low beam (High Beam Control).
The range of Mazda CX-5 engines included a new family of SkyActive engines:
petrol engine SkyActiv-G 2.0 (150 hp, 210 Nm);
gasoline engine SkyActiv-G 2.5 (192 hp, 256 Nm);
two modifications of the SkyActiv-D 2.2 turbodiesel (150 hp, 380 Nm and 175 hp, 420 Nm).
It is noteworthy that Mazda remains true to its traditions in the creation of power plants: no turbocharging in gasoline engines and "downsizing" (reducing the volume of engines). It is possible that this is why the stubborn and sophisticated Japanese managed to make two revolutions in engine building at once: gasoline "aspirated" received a record high compression ratio, and diesel, on the contrary, a record low. In both cases, we are talking about the same value of 14:1.
This approach made it possible to significantly increase the efficiency of using the heat of the burnt fuel. Compared to the previous family of MZR engines, sky-active gasoline engines have become 15% more powerful and just as economical. The diesel unit consumes 20% less fuel than its predecessor. Nevertheless, deliveries of diesel versions to Ukraine have not yet begun.
Along with the motors, Mazda also introduced new gearboxes: a six-speed “mechanics” and an “automatic”. A manual transmission is available exclusively in conjunction with the 2.0-litre engine, and only on the entry-level FWD Drive variant, for which an automatic transmission is offered at an additional cost. All all-wheel drive versions, regardless of the motor, are aggregated “automatically” by default.
The all-wheel drive system of the Mazda CX-5 is implemented using a multi-plate clutch on the rear axle. Depending on the situation, the rear wheels can receive up to 50% of the traction.
The model is produced in Japan. Front-wheel drive versions of the Mazda CX-5 have a ground clearance of 215 mm, while all-wheel drive versions have a ground clearance of 210 mm.
