Mazda2 - the third generation of the hatchback, which is sold in Japan under the name Demio. Compared to its predecessor, the model not only changed a lot in appearance, but also became a little smaller.

As in the case with Peugeot 208, introduced in 2012, debuted back in 2008 at the Geneva Motor Show, Mazda2 went a different way than most competitors. Instead of growing and expanding, Japanese engineers, on the contrary, decided to keep the dimensions of the interior decoration intact, but at the same time reduce the external dimensions and make the car lighter.

Thus, the “two” has become 40 mm shorter, 55 mm lower and 100 kilograms lighter than its predecessor. At the same time, the reduction in weight and size did not affect passive safety. For the first time, the company has used ultra-high-strength steel in the body structure, which exceeds the tensile strength of conventional steels by about five times. Thanks to this, the rigidity of the body of the model increased by 5%.

Active safety is provided as standard by six airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), brake force distribution (EBD) and emergency braking assistance (EBA). Top-end versions are additionally equipped with traction control (TCS) and road holding control (DSC).

Mazda2 design was developed in two parts of the world at once: Europe and Asia. First, the idea of ​​a new model was embodied in the 2005 Mazda Sassou concept, created in a European center under the direction of artist Peter Birtwistle. The serial appearance of the same car acquired in Japan. Here, chief designer Ikuo Maeda was already in charge of the process, who retained the muscular wings and waistline going up, which were laid down in the prototype.

The hatchback is delivered to Ukraine exclusively in a five-door body and with only one power plant - a 103-horsepower petrol “four” with a volume of 1.5 liters. The engine can be aggregated with both a five-speed "mechanics" and a four-band "automatic".

In 2011, deliveries to the Ukrainian market of a restyled modification began, and in 2012, Mazda2 IPM versions began, the head unit of which has not only a USB connector, but also an AUX.

Serial production of the model is established in Japan.
