Mazda Motor Company introduced the updated third-generation Mazda6 Wagon (SW) station wagon in March 2018 at the Geneva Motor Show. Expectedly, the five-door "six" has changed according to the model sedan, which the Japanese brought in November 2017 to the Los Angeles Auto Show.
The facelift brought the Mazda6 Wagon a new fine-mesh grille with chrome LED headlight rims, a less aggressive front bumper and redesigned taillights. However, more noticeable changes are fixed in the cabin: even better finishing materials, wood and suede inserts for the top configuration, a new front panel with a minimalist design, improved seats with optimized filler and a different dashboard without the usual “wells”. At the same time, in top-end equipment, the speedometer and additional scales are displayed on a 7-inch display, and a projection screen is also available.
The station wagon also has improved noise isolation and reconfigured suspension and steering. And the all-round visibility system and the advanced complex of i-ACTIVSENSE security systems have been added to the list of equipment of the most expensive versions. Adaptive cruise control can now drive the car at a safe distance from the vehicle in front at any speed (previously, the minimum response speed was limited to 30 km / h), LED headlights “beat” 80 meters further, and the Auto Hold function (automatically holds the car when stopped) works even after the driver takes his foot off the brake pedal. Finally, the Mazda6 now comes standard with an active hood to reduce the risk of injury to pedestrians.
Updated Mazda6 for Europe received upgraded gasoline engines SKYACTIV-G 2.0 and SKYACTIV-G 2.5 with faster response to pressing the gas pedal and reduced fuel consumption. In addition, the petrol versions received active air dampers in front of the radiator, which improve the car's aerodynamics at times when the cooling system does not need intensive air supply. The SKYACTIV-D 2.2 turbodiesel has got a new variable geometry turbocharger, thanks to which the power has increased from 175 to 181 hp, and the maximum torque from 420 to 445 Nm.
For Ukraine, the Mazda representative office provided petrol versions of the “six” in the station wagon body with a 2.0-liter engine with 165 hp. and a maximum torque of 213 Nm. The engine is combined with a 6-speed "mechanics" and "automatic" of a similar range. In the first case, acceleration from 0-100 km/h takes 9.3 seconds, in the second - 10.9 seconds. Manufacturer's claimed fuel consumption in the combined cycle: 8.4 l/100 km and 7.7 l/100 km for a car with manual transmission and automatic transmission, respectively.
The Mazda6 station wagon is produced in Japan.
