Mazda6 - The third generation of the model was built on a new platform, which the Japanese used for the Mazda CX-5 crossover a year earlier. Thanks to the wheelbase increased by 105 mm, the “six” has become significantly more spacious. Shoulder room has increased by 20 mm, and for the rear riders there was an additional 43 mm at the level of the knees.
The dimensions of the car have also grown. Compared to its predecessor, the sedan has become longer by as much as 115 mm and now reaches 4,870 mm, and despite the fact that it belongs to the D-class, the Mazda6 has already formally moved to the E class. The width of the car has increased by 45 mm, and the height has increased by 10 mm.
It is noteworthy that in addition to increasing the proportion of high-strength steels to 60%, which in turn improved the rigidity of the body structure by 30%, the Japanese also applied a new welding method that increased the number of joints by 10%.
But the trunk of the "six" has decreased from 519 to 483 liters. This is compensated by the correct rectangular shape of the opening of the cargo compartment, as well as hiding loops - there is no threat to crush things in the “hold” with them.
Despite the fact that the Russians were the first to see the third generation Mazda6 (the world premiere of the model took place at the Moscow Motor Show in the summer of 2012), the Ukrainians were still a little more fortunate, because, unlike the neighboring market, the four-door did not come to us with a derated up to 150 hp, and with "breathing" for all 165 hp new petrol engine SkyActiv 2.0.
The peak torque of 210 Nm of the two-liter unit falls at 4,000 rpm. In the initial version, buyers get a motor paired with a six-speed “mechanics”, and in the middle configuration they can choose between a manual transmission and a six-speed adaptive “automatic”.
The second engine offered on the Ukrainian market with a working volume of 2,488 cubic meters. cm also runs on gasoline and develops 192 hp. and 232 Nm of torque. At the same time, peak thrust compared to a less powerful two-liter engine in a 2.5-liter power plant is available from lower speeds - from 3,250 rpm. The engine is installed only on the “sixes” in the middle and top versions and by default is aggregated exclusively by an automatic transmission with a manual gear change function using steering column switches.
Regardless of the engine, all "sixes" get a system of automatic start and shutdown of the engine Start/Stop, which helps save fuel. The system works without delay and almost imperceptibly for the driver, as we have seen during Mazda6 test drive with a two liter engine.
The basic package of passive and active safety includes front, side and curtain airbags, anti-lock brakes (ABS), emergency braking assistance (EBA), brake force distribution (EBD), dynamic stabilization (DSC), traction control (TCS), traction control on hills (HLA) and tire pressure monitoring (TPMS).

In the middle version of the Touring, the “six” with a two-liter engine receives an automatic braking system at low speeds from the i-ActivSense list, and with a 2.5-liter engine, bi-xenon adaptive headlights get in addition.
