The front optics received an “evil” squint, and the taillights acquired a spectacular pattern. By the way, a similar machine with four-door body the feed is framed stricter, which may be of interest to conservative drivers.

The power structure of the body has also changed significantly: new amplifiers and elements that absorb impact energy have appeared, the proportion of high-strength steels with a tensile strength of 980 MPa and above has increased from 3% to 30%, and the original hood and front bumper are less traumatic for pedestrians. In addition, the driver's knee airbag was included in the list of basic equipment for the first time, while the side airbags received two chambers with different pressures (the front one with low pressure, the rear one with higher pressure) for more reliable fixation of the driver and passenger.

By the way, the interior of the "fourth" Mazda3 designers of the Japanese brand got rid of visual noise. The front panel overlay flows smoothly from the visor above the partially digital instrument panel to the multimedia system display and on to the passenger. At the same time, the climate system deflectors are disguised as a continuation of the decorative strip in the center, and the “climate” control unit is equipped with simple and understandable switches. The manufacturer also draws attention to the reduced level of noise from the road and the engine compared to the previous generation, and carefully designed acoustics - 8 speakers are already installed in the “base”, and for the top version, a system with 12 BOSE speakers is provided. It is interesting that the 8.8-inch MZD Connect multimedia display did not become touch-sensitive, which, however, did not prevent it from being equipped with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto applications.

The range of the new Mazda3 includes upgraded Skyactiv-G gasoline units with a volume of 1.5 and 2.0 liters, a 1.8-liter Skyactiv-D diesel engine, as well as a completely new gasoline engine. Skyactiv-X operating on the SPCCI cycle - Spark Controlled Compression Ignition (compression ignition with controlled spark ignition). The return of the newest unit reaches 190 hp, and a torque of 230 Nm. On the “troika”, such an engine is supplemented by a mild-hybrid system with a compact electric motor powered by a 24-volt on-board electrical network. Depending on the market, the motors are combined with a six-speed "mechanics" or "automatic", front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. True, the novelty arrived in Ukraine only in two-pedal modifications and a front axle wheel drive.

A mini-revolution happened to the chassis of the car. The front has traditional McPherson struts, but the rear of the mono-drive versions of the car now has a torsion beam instead of a multi-link.

The i-Activsense security system complex for the first time received a driver attention monitoring system, which operates from an infrared camera with a diode backlight invisible to the naked eye. It detects the direction of gaze, individual eye movements, blink rate, head tilt and other parameters, and warns the driver with an alarm if he is distracted from driving or starts to fall asleep. Also included in the list of assistance systems is adaptive cruise control, a cross-traffic alert function, and a speed warning system.
